"I have been to many of these puppymills and it is worse than you can ever imagine! Most that I have been to, the animals do not dare bark or lick! I asked an Amish guy why they do not do this and he hoses them down every time! I imagine he also beats them because they are terrified of humans for a while and then realize at my home they can have a voice and are permitted to give kisses! My little pom that is 3 pounds, she just started kissing after 3 years with me. She came from the Amish but is not adoptable because she only trusts me and will bite for blood if anyone comes near her. She will not run but attack instead. I am praying some day I can get her to trust but not yet! God will help her through this though, someday!"  - Linda Simmons, Founder

"I have a similar experience with the Buckeye Auction as well. I have rescued 4 dogs from that hell hole of an auction and adopted out 3 of them. I kept the most abused one which actually came to me by way of another rescue group. A chocolate lab that had been used to breed until she was almost dead. When her last litter required a c-section (which they did themselves I might add) she was off to the auction. Fat, teats to her knees, full of milk, bloated and sad as hell looking. She was purchased for a measly $50! When she was spayed, they found the ghastly remains of her uterus, in tatters had been sutured by embroidery floss which had begun to go septic. She almost hemorrhaged to death. It was touch and go for a few days. She had never been up and down stairs, played with toys or loved. She has scars on her knees to remind us of the wire chicken hutch she lived in for so many years. She has had some issues, but has turned out to be one of the most loving and well behaved dogs ever. Her start to life was horrid, but now she lives here with me as a pampered, beloved companion." - Lora Zigan, Owner

"Issie Poo ( Isabelle ) was born on an Amish dog breeding farm in central Ohio. Dogs are sold daily here but no one wanted this little girl. She has a slight deformity of the upper lip and front upper teeth. This is a clef pallet. Because of her slight imperfection she was not adopted at the farm and she was taken to the Amish Flea Market where she was going to be "sold" or killed. They did not want to bring her back to the farm. They treat dogs as merchandise and not living - loving pets. A young lady went to the flea market with all the money she could pull together. She wanted to see what it was all about. She wanted to save one - at least one rescue. With her $150.00 she looked at about 400 dogs. They were stuffed in cages and unable to walk and most had no water to drink. She said most were crippled, some were pregnant. She wanted them all and her eyes fell on this little girl. Sitting in the back of the cage not making a sound was Issie. The lady paid the Amish farmer and left feeling awful that she did not have more money to take them all. Issie was given to rescue because the lady did not want to deal with the CLEF PALLET. Since then, Issie was adopted by a wonderful family and now has a wonderful life." - Deborah Parker and Audry Hoegler, Founders
